Tamiya spray Q's

Well the Tamiya rattle cans I feel are 100 times better but it is a lacquer. Just make sure you put the can in hot tap water for a bit. I am going to give the testors lacquer a try soon. I will see how it compares.

Tamiya lacquers dry quick and leave a hard finish.  As far as 'time to dry', to the touch, maybe 30 min or less.  I would suggest painting a spare piece of plastic at the same time to test with.

I have a question-why are you adding Simple Green to your Future?  I'm assuming that you are using the Future as a gloss coat.  The Future, by itself, should be fine assuming that the Tamiya has fully cured.  I would give that a couple of days, just to be sure.  In the past when I've used Tamiya lacquer, I've also used the Tamiya lacquer clear-works nicely.

I read at another forum that if you add simple green to future, you get a wet gloss shine.

Future, by itself, will provide a wet gloss finish.  I shoot Future straight.  Some brush it on.  Others thin it a bit with alcohol.  The thing that would make me nervous is that I use Simple Green to strip acrylic paint.  Future is acrylic.

EDIT-well, I'm at a loss for words.  I took a moment to read the article above and it's mentioned in there about the Simple Green & Future mix.  I think I would paint a spare/old model with the Tamiya and test the Simple Green/Future mix first though.

Just switching from enamel to laquer will make the big difference. I've used both Testors and Tamiya and have even used Testor color and Tamiya clear. I've tried future but I think it looks too wet. If you are trying to achive a factory look future will not be needed. Factory paint never looked like that. I've even used Testors color coat without any clear.
