JAN , when you take the frame out of the box trim off the flash if there is any , then set the frame on an absolutely flat surface . if it is not warped then make sure that as you build you keep everything level till you mount the wheels , this should help there , as far as the body  this applies to the frame too .  put it on a flat surface and if its NOT square use a hair dryer on LOW and being careful ,heat the body until it levels , then let it aircool on the surface .  TANKERBUILDER

Jan,

Glad I could offer some help.  Post some pics and show us how it turned out.  Just remember to take your time and practice on a kit you don't mind screwing up on.  If you're just getting started, try something new each time instead of trying everything at once and getting frustrated.

Jan,

It sounds like the frame had a slight warp to it.  Next time out, I'd mock it up, tape the suspension to the frame and add the wheels and tires.  If it sits flat, leave it alone.  If it doesn't, I'd put some water in a pan and heat to where it's just about to boil.  Dunk the frame in there, wait a little bit and then take it out and tape it to something flat.  Let it cool and you should have a square frame.  Try it with the body on as well.  If the body has a warp to it, do the same thing.  If everything is square and you still have a problem, if you haven't glued the wheels on yet, take your dremel or cordless power tool and elongate the wheel's mounting hole til it sits on the ground, then epoxy or superglue the wheel in place.

Plastic Car Model Parts
Posted by Jan on Sunday, January 4, 2009 5:57 PM

Hello To Everyone:

I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I am having with plastic parts for car models.  I am new to building models so if this is a dumb question please excuse me.  I have attempted to put together two plastic car models so far and the problem I am having is that when I try to put some of the parts together, they are not bent properly.  I was hoping that once I finished with the complete car that the plastic parts would relax, I even tried to hold them over the burner so that the plastic would get soft and form to the shape it needed to be.  When I did finish with the car completely, the four tires will not be level, meaning the car rocks back and forth.  How do I solve the molded plastic part problem so that it conforms to the shape it needs to be?

Thank You
