Question on a 1/8th 1931 Alfa Romeo Art. K/71

Howdy,

Oddly enough my cousin owed me big time so he dropped of a Pocher Alfa Romeo and this is one hellofa kit fer.. Can not beleive the level of detail and the assorted parts and mediums that make up this sweet ride.. Just a few questions because I am not to familiar with this particular run of kits..

What year was this kit produced and what was the original value? Did some searching and I am thinking the 70's.. The value looks to be around $250-300 range however found a site that deals with Pocher cars and the prices blew me away.. They range from $400-950.. Anywho

He had started it then lost interest and I can see why Lol. Anywho, give or take 15% has been started and the all the peices are there...

I have the experience but I am not to sure if I am interested enough to finish it out right.. Even though it has been started, what would it be worth?

Evilbay has one for $300 w/ a few bids.. Any info on this kit or leads would be truly appreciated..

 Thanks again

Flaps up,

Mike

Check the following site for more information about Pocher kits than you could ever dream possible!

The Pocher kits were always top notch, famous for their level of detail, and extremely pricey.  If you ask me, your cousin paid up big time.

Thanks for the feed back guys, much appreciatged... EasyMike, I figured he paid me back big time but I am not too sure if I want to actually finish this thing off..

I am not still to sure but if I were to sell it on evilbay or what ever, would I get something for it even though a small portion has been started knowing the history of Pocher ans there line of kits?

 Thanks again gents!!

Hi Butz - I ordered a K71 whilst I was in the Army in Germany in 1970.   The kits had certainly been going for a few years before that although I'm not sure when they started.   The price then was £80 (about $120) and they returned my cheque offering a NATO discount - for reasons I can't remember I never did get the kit!!

I finally got my hands on one in 1996 when there were still a few retailers offering them but could not find the K71 Monza so had the K73 Grand Sport instead (all the chassis are the same).  At that time it was £236 ($357) so prices more or less trebled in 30 years or so.

Check out ebay and you'll see that prices vary a lot especially for started kits.  This presumably is because of the possibility of missing parts and with nearly 2000 bits in the box its' not surprising.

Mine took me 15 months and I don't know how many hours to complete but in about 2002 I came across a RR Phantom on another auction site which I got for £90 and sold within two weeks on ebay for £345 - I just could not face doing another right then and the cash came in handy!

The one you have is so rare that I'd definitely keep it and have a go - take your time and they're are not that difficult.   There are plenty of help forums for Pochers if you get stuck.

My K73 GS converted to a Zagato Spyder.

All the best and good luck with it.
