I see they have mostly newish stuff, but some of themfall in the era you talked about:

74 Unser Mclaren M16 C/D,  76 Rutherfort Indy winner (M16E), another 16C/D inBlack label colours and a 79/80 Chapparal 2K.

These are 43rd kits, btw. Instructions rather basic, so pre-assembly is a prerequisite. I've built their Hornish Panther racing car and came across a couple of things where I would have done it differently had I followed that (good) practise. But very nice builds, I have the JV Indy winer also in the cupboard - the minor hickups is not bad at all.

I'm not really into racing so not sure the difference between an Indy car and Formula 1 but Tamiya has a decent range of 1/20 Formula 1 kits most for the 60-70's. I got a few just because they are the race cars I remember as a kid. I got a couple of the cigar shaped cars from Honda and Lotus, also the Tyrell 6 wheeler. Nice kits with good detail, just an odd scale.

AMT also has an Indy Turbine car in 1/25 which is not a bad looking kit and fairly easy to find on ebay.

Not sure how old you consider "vintage"; but, Aurora had a series of between-the-wars Indy racers.  Revell, Monogram, AMT and MPC/SMP issued various Indy cars from the Watson roadster, to Gurney Eagles, Granatelli's turbine Lotus and 80's CART chassis.

Looks like a thorough haunting of E-bay and the like is in order for most of these, 'specially the older versions.  You could also try some of the rare kit sellers, or post your wants on any of several modelling forums.
