Tamiya Nissan 350Z
Posted by rtello on Sunday, November 30, 2003 9:15 PM
I recently looked at the nissan 350z model and it was a silver body but the box said the body was a meetalized covered surface. I ws wondering if anyone had information as to the possiblity of painting the body red. I never saw that term used in a plastic kit.

Welcome to the forum rtello. I don't see why you would'nt be able to put on a coat of primer and paint as you wish allthough I'm not familiar with that kind of finish on a kit right out of a box.

rtello.

Is the kit like a plated kit or is the metalliser in the plastic?

If it is plated it is easy to strip it off using kitchen bleach or similar.

I think Tamiya offers both a plated and a non-plated version of the same Kit.

It is a great kit. I just finished building one myself. I don't think you will have a problem priming and painting the body. I planned on building a silver one anyway, and I was so pleased with the finish of the model, I didn't bother painting it.
