Modern Fire and Rescue
Posted by modelbuilder on Friday, February 20, 2009 9:13 PM
I am looking for some modern looking Fire and Rescue vehicles. I want to mix and match to build my vision of the ultimate SWAT/SRT vehicle. Are there any kits out there of true modern fire and rescue vehicles?

Hey PetePilot, you missed a . after the www- here's a direct link to to an International 4000 on his website... is this what you were talking about?

http://modelsbydave.com/images/products/international_4000.jpg

He mentions in the description that it will fit on most kit chasis... do you by any chance know what base kit he is refering to?

I'll second the motion- I think that kit is your best bet for an ultimate SWAT/SRT vehicle. I run EMS for my university and we work with the University Police freqently and share the same building- their Special Responce Unit has an ambulance (F450 maybe?). They just switched the red lights for blue, painted it up in a State Trooper silver and blue and added their own decals and that's it. I think if you converted that truck to basically have a big armored box on it, add some plating to the doors/windows that'd be very cool

This is more what I was looking for. Something more modern looking.

Has anyone worked with any of the SSB Resins kits? How are they for the price?

the SSB kits are top notch. I have the engine, ambulance and F-550 and they all are great looking. The prices are going to be a bit higher than plastic, but I have worked with some other resin kits and these out of the box require very little clean up and have everything you need to make a great looking rig. Jamie does run some specials on the kits from time to time so just shoot him an email and see what he can do. I will say that the engine and squads especially are not for beginners, they are pretty involved kits but by far the best looking modern model kit you will find.
