Window tinting

Is there another way to tint kit windows, aside from using Future and food coloring? I want to do a dark or smoke tint.

Tamiya has a clear smoke (X-19) available, but I haven't tinted with it myself.

I wonder if that would work? It's actually fairly thick and may be difficult to use on such a small area. It would also need to be a very light tint to be realistic. But it would be worth a try!
