duster tops

Heres something I ran into acidentally. I had a mustang model painted with Testors spray. I wanted to paint it over. Being young and stupid then I didn't strip the old paint. But to paint over I used Krylon gray primer to prime. The paint started lookin very very crinkly. I instantly went to strip all the paint. Turned out the crinkle was from the palstic doing weird things. Now that I look at it, it looks like what your pics shows. Obviously you'll want to try this on scrap plastic. Maybe it'll work for you? Lemme know.

Your friend at work is right the tops were vinyl.....terrible things really they tended to retain moisture under the top and help promote rust at a rapid rate! might try doing a search for vinyl....take a look at some of the various pics.....or you might want to post this in the techniques forum. Either way let us know how it turns out!

Well, I just spoke w/one of the guys here at work who really knows his MOPAR, and he said a "snakeskin" roof was a vinyl roof that looked like a snake skin.

I don't see snake skin listed but it does list lizard skin. Maybe they can make if for you.
