One of my sons and his family live in Cleveland. He's lived there since he graduated from Case Western over 20 years ago. He builds models once in a while when the mood strikes him. He's always complaining about the weather.

Thanks for the reply Jim. I'll be doing my painting outside though, as I dont have sufficient space in the house or ventilation for that matter. I think if I opened up my spray can in the house, my wife would have a fit! I'm just about to say to heck with it and go outside and paint it in the garage. Its still kind of cool out though. Maybe I will wait a bit longer. GRRR!!

Hi Woody. Use the search function on the Techniques or Painting Forums. I'm sure there are some posts with an answer to your question. I always use brush-on paints and I build and paint in one of our spare bedrooms with an exhaust fan going even in winter(all mine since the kids left). The basement was too cold and damp in the winter and too hot and damp in the summer. We keep the rooms at 68 and I've never had a problem. Hope thats a little bit of help.

Painting temperature

Is there really an optimum temperature, I mean ambient temperature, for painting? Its only 50 degrees here in Ohio today, but I'm really wanting to paint the chassis on my Viper today. The can says use at room temperature, but I planned to put the can in a little warm water to loosen the paint up a bit before I use it. I know you arent supposed to paint when its really hot or really cold, but whats a good temperature range for painting? Thanks!
