It depends on the contest. The last one I was at allowed plug wires and seat belts in the OOB. So check the rules for the contest your going to.

When the contest people say o.o.b. that is what they mean ! The last show I went knocked at least a quarter of the out of box models for plug wires etc. They moved them to another category The kit must be as it came . The addition of seatbelts is ok as the real car has them visible .If your model came with plug wires then that,s ok . Don,t add them even in stretched sprue . The technicality here is the sprue came in the box ,but , you modified it for a part that was NOT included . Sorry about that .    oldcarguy

Does it count if the plug wires are made of stretched sprue? I know it's hair splitting but I've seen biplanes in OOB categories with rigging in the wings made of stretched sprue.

Read the rules of the contest you're entering, but OOB means just that, out of the box.  Bare Metal Foil and decal changes are allowed, sometimes seat belts made of tape, but no fabricated seatbelt hardware.  If wiring is provided in the kit, that is allowed but not the pre wired distributor.  Hope this helps.

Hi,OOB means what it says-out of box.It is my understanding that you can use only what came in the box to do your build. You can usually use Bare metal foil,as that is meant to use to finish the paint. If I am wrong on this, please accept my apoligy.

In automobile OOB categories in contest, would it be permitted to add plug wires? What about using a prewired distributor? Ive read the IPMS rules but nothing pertaining to this specifically.
