Subaru Impreza Rally Car Photos (WRC 2004 Japan Rally)
Posted by Gaijin Modeler on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 6:42 AM

I recently completed a new project, the Tamiya Subaru Impreza 2004 WRC rally car.

More photos can been seen at my BLOG --> http://puramo-rajikon.blogspot.com/

Here are some of the areas I added in addition to the the standard kit

  • Carbon rear wing
  • Carbon front bumper (bottom)
  • Carbon side mirrors (pained)
  • Metal Antennas
  • Metal mesh grills, radiators, latch pins, disk brakes, seat buckles
  • Full seat harnesses
  • Steering wheel cable
  • Driver cooling vent
  • Carbon dashboard and side brake
  • Dashboard switches (30 pins)
  • Yellow carbon seats (painted)

The main paint job used Tamiya lacquer spray paint decanted and airbrushed over a gray primed surface. Above the decals is a urethane clear finish which was wet-sanded with 2000 grit paper, then polished with 4 types of compound and finally finished with a polymer wax.

Fun project although the main Subaru logo on the sides were not very friendly...

Fun build - great detailing. Those decals are a beach...

Still miffed with their withdrawal - the whole WRC is not the same now with alomost just a Ford-Citroen battle...Sad [:(]

That looks awesome, but it's a rally car! It needs mud!! Shock [:O]   Can you tell I build armor? Wink [;)]

Thanks guys for your comments! I'm in the process of building my first diorama around it right now. I will attempt to get the car 'dirty' also in the process. When I finish I'll be sure to post some updated pictures. Cool [8D]
