Viper Ignition?
Posted by Enzo_Man on Thursday, December 11, 2003 5:12 PM
Wuzzup! Enzo_Man here. Once again, I need Help! I have a model of a 93 (I think) Dodge Viper by AMT/ERTL, which is one of their better kits. As usual, I'm detailing the engine. I found most everything about the throttle cables and cruise control, power steering, fuel rails PCV and vacuum hose routing. Everything but the firing order! When you look at the rear of the engine there is a 6 electode ignition module on the leftand a 4 electrode on the right. Can anyone please tell me. The neophite needs you!

Hi Enzo
The following may not be 100% acurate because it is based on the iron viper truck engine. the coil packs for the trucks were mounted on the leftside valve covers but the firing order should be the same. #1 cyl is left front
firing order: 1-10-9-4-3-6-5-8-7-2

the coil packs are wired [ 5 - 9 ]...................[1 - 7 - 3]
..................................[10 - 8 ]...................[6 - 4 - 2]

it is probably due to space availability that the coil packs are split up on the viper. both engines use the crankshaft as an ignition triger so the plugs fire twiceon each cycle.
I hope this is what you were looking for.

Very Helpful! My Dad works at Ligenfelter Performance Engineering. There are a couple of Vipers there. Thats were I got my other info. I didn't bother to ask about the ignition sequence because everyone was busy getting orders finished. But Carl... YOUR AWESOME! Thanks dude.
