I rub out the wrinkles in the BMF with a clean cotton t-shirt stretched over my finger. I do this before I trim with the xacto knife. It works rel well for me. It really gets the chrome trim looking smooth.

Your LHS should carry it, if not, you can order online from Micro Mark or the like.  I like the "chrome", I've heard some folks say the "Ultra Bright" (I think that's what they call it) doesn't stick as well and looks fake.

Well you measure the size of the area to be covered,cut out a piece apply it to the model.burnish it down and then trim it for exact fit! All you really need is a new #11 blade in yout Exacto  knife and a good pair of tweezers!You  can use it for Aircraft too but it takes longer!

Any tips on painting chrome trim on cars?I plan on taping and spraying.Are there any other options?
