I was replacing some speakers in my truck the other day and noticed that the braided wire that is used to connect the terminals to the voicecoil looked a lot like braided hose. I did a little research and found that the wire is called tinsel wire and consists of tinned, braided copper with a core (polyester I think). Here is one place I found that carries it...

There are other diameters made but I have not found distributors, only a ton of off shore manufacturers when I Google tinsel wire. I also came across some wire used in fly tying that looks like it may be useful as well...

You might try DETAIL MASTERS for braided stuff. While they are mostly into 1/24 or 1/25 accessories I have bought braided stuff from them to use on 1/6 Tamiya Harley kits as brake lines & throttle cables. I'm very pleased with how it looks.
They had bigger stuff then what I used too!
