1.32 airfix aston martin db5
Posted by grumbleweed on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 5:27 PM

Hi everyone,

Can you help?

Just started getting into car modeling, and got an aston martin db5 from Airfix, I am missing a lot of parts from this model especially the wing mirrors that are shown on the artwork but not included in the model parts.

Has anybody got some ideas how to scratch build some very small wing Mirrors?

Any help, much appreciated.

To have a lot of parts missing is unusual for airfix.

This model is in their curtent catalogue. I would contact them here

 http://www.airfix.com/contact-us/

and ask for replacement parts. Alternatvly return to vendor and ask for a replacement

............It might be a good idea to check the instructions to be sure the part were in the kit to begin with. My experence is that not everything pictured on the box is inside, particularly if its an illustration or photo of the real car, is necessarily inside. I've also made more trips to spare part box, Scale Equipment Limited or some other after market site, because of the absence of rear or side mirrors or, more often then not, both. It's a common problem with 1/25 AMT and MPC kits made between the fifties threw the eighties and even some Revel/Monogram 1/25/1/24 models...........1/32 scale kits seldom have interior mirrors. Monogram did a Ford EXP with full detail, but the rest of the series was not that detailed. Match Box did some highly 1/32 kits; mostly classic subjects..............I've never built the 1/32 Airfix Aston Martin kit, but I did put together their VW Beetle a few years ago. Aside from the floor, seats, dash board and steering wheel I had to make everything in the interior from Evergreen Plastic or A and B epoxy (to make the inner fenders.
