Wild V.Twin Brothers
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 9:55 PM
Hi.

Any one here finished one of the following 6 Kits:
Imai 1/12 Wild V.Twin Brothers
1) The Long Riders
2) The Stampede
3) Death Psycho
4) Black Foot
5) Dark Angel
6) Night Trip

I have been pulling mine of the shelf at times and started to do some of the conversion step as per the instructions, haven't tried any of the frame cutting yet though (bit scared).
What I like is that there are few chromed parts in the Kits.

Anyhuh, what was your impression of the Kits and did the finished model come out ok?

I have not heard of these kits before. I have heard of Amai, not the W.V.T.B's though.
Can you give an idea of exactly what they are?
I would really love to see a picture.

They are a range of 6 Custom Harley Bikes that were released just before IMAI announced that they are bust.

Pics and some info here (Japanese site):

Interesting is that I think only 2 of the Kits have chromed parts, the rest are all plain plastic.

Instructions for building the Bikes from the "stock" Kits call for customisation steps( chopping fenders, shortening shocks, raking the forks, lowering the frame, cutting handle bars, etc) bassically the same way it would have been done on the real Bikes.

Models are bit rough and feature a unique set of Instructions, but should build up nicely. Lots of left-over bits and some good tips on customisation are included.

What I like about them they build up into "Custom Bikes" not your average off-the-floor type of Model, another Company that make similar Kits is Aoshima with their American Street Bike "Steeds" and similar custom Kits.

Tamiya kits are nice, but if I want to hit the wilder side of Motorbikes I will go for Aoshima, IMAI(gone Disapprove [V]) or similar.

I think your best bet might be too keep your Eyes on E-Blaayhh, even over here I haven't seen them on any shelf since IMAI went under.

Not sure if it is a licence issues as they are Harleys and IMAI had the licence to produce many of their Bikes in kit form., or if they were simply producd in fewer numbers because of the closure of IMAI.
