Fire Apparatus question.
Posted by Gus00 on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 9:25 PM

I've been searching the Internet and it seems Fred's Custom Model's is no more. Is that true? does anybody know of any other source for fire apparatus?

As long as we are on the subject, are there any websites or forums dedicated to modeling fire apparatus?

That should get the ball rolling. Thanks in advance.

Fred is no longer casting, he had a stroke a few years ago, and I believe eventually passed away.

As far as sources for fire apparatus stuff.

The Scale Firehouse has lots of info and an active forum.

Models by Dave has already been posted. He has several truck cabs including some fire apparatus, a Ward LaFrance, American LaFrance Century and a Ford C canopy.

American Industrial Truck Models (used to be Model Truck and Fire Apparatus Company). Many truck cabs and a couple of fire apparatus cabs including a Mack L and Mack CF. If you download the catalog he also has a bunch of white metal or resin parts for fire apparatus.

SSB Resins is another with some stuff for fire apparatus. Kind of pricy but nice stuff.

I hate to hear that about Fred.

Thanks for the info. I'll check those sites out.
