Hey Guys,
Well, after 30 years of dreaming, planning, gathering, and procrastinating, I have FINALLY started this project! This was the first heavy rescue that I ever rode on, and my favorite piece of fire apparatus. Last I heard, it is still in service outside of Philadelphia. I am awaiting comfirmation of same, so that I can get a few measurements, and photos of items that I never took all those years ago. Anyway, on to the pictures:
The cab and wheels are the old MTFA castings. While very rough, I am going to try and make them useable. The frame is a modified ALF Ladder Chief, cut, and re-inforced with brass strip.
Everything is just propped up at the moment for the photo. I have learned to complete the chassis first(finally) then will work on fabricating the body . The drawing is one that I made almost 30 years ago. Used to spend a lot of time at the firehouse waiting for that "Big Job" to come in...
Let me know what you think...
