Kawa ZX-7 RR
Posted by djmodels1999 on Sunday, December 28, 2003 3:20 AM

Hi Guys,

This is Revell's 1/9 Kawasaki ZX-7 RR...
Is this a good kit? It's on sale here, reduced to 1/3 of its original price so I thought about getting it for my entry into the Motorbike Group Build...

What do you think?

I have that kit. I have not built it yet, so I cannot say how it builds out, but it is not a shake n' bake kit like a Tamiya motorcycle kit is from the looks of it. If you like ZX-7's, it is the only game in town.

Haven't buld any of the big Revell Bikes besides the Werners, so I can't give an opinion on it.

IMO, the best 1/9 and larger Kits are the Heller ones, Tamiya tends to be a bit too rough.

I think the Kit will assemble well with a few problem areas only, but like with most Revell kits will lack in detail and you might need to add quiet a bit of detail.

Word of warning some of the Revell Bike kits are re-issues of the Protar Kits and, IMHO, aren't worth the money. Protar will be cheaper.

Personally, I would go for the Tamiya XZ-12R.

Just did a check on the Kit.

It IS a repackaged Hi-tech(Level 4 ~5) Protar Kit with 350 + Parts, most of those I reckon will end up in the Drive chain as each link is seperate.

Do a comparison between the Revell and the Protar prices, over here the difference is about 33% (Revell being more expensive).

It's selling at about £10 here, or US$14.
