'53 Ford Hog Roaster

Tough crowd indeed! Sorry Chuck, I don't hang out on the auto forum much so I didn't see this one. I think it looks great. Interesting subject, something you don't see every day! Kinda makes me hungry for some BBQ pulled pork though....

Maybe you should have posted just before the start of the 4th July BBQ season?

I just saw it; I've only really been active on FSM since mid January.

Nice work !  I especially like the patch on the bottom of the driver door.

Did you pattern the grill top hinges on a dumpster hinge?

Cool werk on the roaster ,I mean roadster .Don werry about the lack of responses on here ,I like to see the view count go up, that shows the interested parties. Keep puttin' yer stuff up!

Spruce goose- Actually, I based the hinges on old barn door hinges. many a 1:1 Hog Roaster I've seen employs these things- in my neck of the woods, old fuel oil tanks and barn hinges are common as dirt.

I do like your idea of incorporating dumpster hinges onto something, though....

one thing about the car model side of the hobby is that the builder has much more latitude in building  the wildest thing he can imagine and the model still looks like it might be possible simply because of designers like 

Roth, Barris and others..

Oh yeah! That's what I love about it, too, you can kind of tell accuracy and realism to take a hike and just have fun for a little bit! Granted, this one is workable in 1:1, but I have been know to really let fly with some of my rat rod and beater models!

I'm all for building the most realistic models possible, but I can't do that all the time, ya know!
