Car model reviews?
Posted by wing_nut on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 5:42 PM

This being maybe my 4th time here in all the years on FSM... I have no idea where to go to look up a review for model cars.  Is there a good place for that?

I've not found a great deal of resources like there are for armor & aircraft.  The sister publication, Scale Auto, isn't bad.  Here's a good one, combination of reviews, builds & tips:

What'ya thinking about building?

Bob I have ordered the Tamiya Lotus 25 Conventry Climax.  I saw "Grand Prix" not to long ago and I loved those old F1 cars when I was a kid.  Where they called F1 back then?

Marc, http://www.modelingmadness.com/ is a good site for reviews, and they include cars. Wish they would upgrade their website, looks like 1995, but the reviews are good.

The Lotus 25 is my favorite Grand Prix cars and Jim Clark my favorite driver. I have one in my stash. It was known as Formula 1 back then, but just about everyone called it Grand Prix, a more elegant name IMHO!

Here's a good website to get your creative juices flowing.

So long folks!

I had forgotten about Modelingmadness-they do a good job on kit reviews, auto included.

Grand Prix is a great movie-the golden age of F1-there was a lot more equality among the cars.  It was a drivers sport.  Now the cars are the stars and the race outcome is determined by pit stops.

If memory serves me correct, the Tamiya Honda F1 is the vehicle that James Garner drove in Grand Prix...after all, you can't have that Lotus sitting on the shelf all by it's self....
