A-Team van?
Posted by Railfan 233 on Sunday, June 20, 2010 10:41 PM

are there any companies that sell a model of the A-Team van, a 1983 GMC G-15?

I have been watching the re-runs, and I was hooked at the first gunfight when a car exploded. Ever since, I have been a huge fan.

I figure, I can't have the real van, so why not a scale model?

ANy help will be appretiated. Thank you

Yes, AMT did a GMC van kit  as the A-Team van. I haven't seen one in a hobby shop for a few years but I'm sure you could find them on Ebay.

Well, that's a whole other matter in itself.

Right now, I don't have a driver's lisence (still working on it) and we already have 3 vehicles (our ever-faithful Dodge Grand Carivan, my dad's 65 aniversary edition Jeep, and my 2002 F-150) so, I doubt I could get one. Not to mention, insurance will go through the roof while I'm considered a "teen driver" so any extras will be a swift "No"

I have been combing the local classifieds, and Craig's list, as well as looking on E-bay  and I have had no luck. I found some on E-bay, but they were too far from home to justify a trip to get it.

If it's your dream to have an A-Team van, don't give up on it just yet. When you have the chance,go for it!

It took me thirty years, but I finally got my paws on my favorite ride.

If it's a dream too be a Stormtrooper or Boba Fett, that's possible too!

Now, that's a car!

It reminds me of the MP cars in the A-Team, as well as the Hazzard County SO's patrol cars.

Are you going to re-paint it or leave it as-is? (it would make for a great WIP thred. Seriously, say it's a 1/1 scale pre-built kit. I think it will fly)

Now, if only I could be a stormtrooper with a plasma gun for the school year. Then the bullies that are everywhere will stay away (no problems yet, but I'm convinced they are waiting to spring a trap on me.)

My Bluesmobile will always look something like that. It's OK for it to look raggedy as long as it runs like a champ.

Why can't you have a real one?

The vans I recall seeing in the 1970s ( rolling airbrush artwork murals  ) and 1980s  eventually became- as I recall- rolling cubes of iron oxide, aka; the Doog's next project ( that Dude does great work ! )

Do any GMC 1980s vans still exist ?

After you find the van and get it built, AMT does a Dukes of Hazard Dodge Monaco police car that would probably work just fine as an MP car to go along with the van.

As far as the bullies, when I was in high school I knew a kid who was in SCA (like the military reinactors but with swords and armor). He came to school in a suit of full plate mail on occasion, nobody bothered him much. Toast

Yes, some 80's GMC vans still exist.

Infact, here's one on E-bay: a true replica of the A-Team van outside, while having some modern-day luxeries inside (about 1 week left, for all interested bidders)

and here's a website for this van:

I forgot to ask about this model. I took some photos today. It's the old Revell Ambulance (the one with all of the electronic doo-dads, gee-gaws, and whatchemacall-its) I got it from a garage sale, and I doubt the electronics are any good.

Let's see if I can remember how to up-load from photobucket:

O.K., assuming the photos accually work, do you think that this model can be re-worked to become a model of the A-TEAM van?

Let's see what happens with the photos  EDIT: I love it when technology works for me

It's doable if you have no other alternative.Only a real fan would know it's the wrong make & model.

I'm glad to hear that.

It's a Ford body, but I plan on re-working it to look more like a GMC. I don't have a real other alternitive for the forseable future, so this will be my best bet.

Then again, I could always turn to my other hobby of model railroading, and paint-up some locomotives into black and gunmetal with red trim....mabeConfused

If I do that, then I'll free-up the van to be modified to look like a rusting work vehicle. I'm still confused, but at least I'll have some sort of idea on what to do (not to mention, an F-45 or an P-40 would look awsome in A-TEAM black, gunmettal, and red, leading a high-priority freaght or passenger train on the tracks)

I havn't seen the movie yet, and it's killing me to wait to see it.

I've seen a lot of the re-runs, and if the movie is as good as the show, I'm goin to love it. Nothin is better than automatic wepons, explosions, cars getting shot-up and blown-up, and Mr.T throwing some guy through the air.

That's quality entertainment right there

I loved the classic body toss over the camera shot from the TV show.

I got to do it to a guy once that had it coming!

Good times!
