North American Ferrari California open top
Posted by oldsalty on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 1:26 PM

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone else had problems with the Ferrari California open top? The packaging around the body is so tight that it has warped the windshield area.

Thanks

I bought the exact same kit last week and also had this problem. Towards the end of assembly though, there is a part that goes right under the windshield frame and should help to shape it back as it should be. Hope that helps.

Thanks Nap,

I had seen that and wondered if it would straighten things out later. There's a nice arch there so hopefully I don't have to do re-bending. Looking at reference pictures to me it seems to low?

No problem!

Do you mean the entire windshield frame sits too low on the model? Based on reference pictures it seems fine to me.  Are you planning on posting pictures of your model? I'm only an amateur modeler and so I won't be posting any pics yet.

Hey Nap,

My daughter has my camera now but if you could take a side view of your car (ferrari) I could compare. I might just being picky as usual.

Thanks.

Sorry Salty, I took some pictures but I can not figure out for the life of me how to post them on the forums. Upon closer inspection though, it seems that my frame isn't bent very much at all. I'll still post the pictures if anyone can help.Yes

Thanks Nap,

That's ok, I think with the windshield, visors/post it should straighten out. It's not like I haven't had to straighten something before. I think if it were the maker (Revell) that I would want to tell them. I think most people will just fix it as many as there are.

Alright thanks Salty. I agree with you 100%, should be an easy fix. Good luck with the model anyway, can't wait to see some progress if you post any. What color exterior/interior are you doing? And where did you find pictures of the interior? I really want to carpet the interior, but I don't know if that's accurate. Thanks though.
