Anyone try This: TCR-40 TIRE CASTING RUBBER ?
Posted by Sprue-ce Goose on Friday, July 30, 2010 12:13 PM

While looking for Resin Casting supplies I found this

TCR-40 TIRE CASTING RUBBER, 2 LB.

http://www.micromark.com/TCR-40-TIRE-CASTING-RUBBER-2-LB,8300.html

The only reference i can find on the FSM website is a 2004 post comment  about a new,  unnamed  Micro-Mark product.

Has anyone tried this Micro-Mark tire casting product?

I haven't personally. If you don't get the replies or info you need here about it you could go over to the Spotlight Hobbies message board, used to be Hobby Heaven. I'm pretty sure this is what several of them have used for tires. You don't have to register, you can just pop in and ask a question. They're normally willing to help. If you do post, in the message you'll have to use a name, email addy and password but that's all there is to it.

Why use rubber?  You can cast in resin, paint it a grimy black.  I use resin any time I need to cast a specialty tire.  As long as it is a non-operating model, resin is fine.

Don,

I understand your point.

I will be casting complete wheels in resin and also plan to cast the tires independently from rims.

Some tires will be for a very few specific car models which i may eventually enter in local contests.

Just curious if anyone had used the product as I have seen after-market tires offered in "rubber" as well as resin.

Unfortunately, I want to make tire logo modifications to my castings before re-casting the final versions and after-market  rubber won't have the modified logo.
