Camaro Side Mirrors
Posted by Dubau on Monday, August 2, 2010 3:06 PM

I am working on a 1/25 scale 1975 Camaro that did not some with side mirrors. Does anyone know of another camaro kit, any year that would have the side mirrors that would match ?

Or have two 1/25 scale side mirrors there not going to use that would match ?

Thanks

Bud

Hi Bud, the mirrors on the F bodies were the same until they changed the body style. In other words kits like the AMT Trans Am etc. will work.Big Smile

What year AMT Trans Am would I need to the same side mirrors for the 75 Camaro ?  I looked and a 78 AMT Trans Am kit looks like it would go. What do you think ?

But I don't know if it comes with the side mirrors, do you ?

Hi Bud, That Trans Am does have side mirrors. Why didn't the Camaro have them in the box? Just curious. Is that Trans Am the same scale as the Camaro?

Yea the Trans Am is 1/25 just like the Camaro. So are the side mirrors the same ?

And I don't know why this kit did not come with side mirrors.

Yea for a 35 year old kit, I think it's missing a lot of things that you get with newer kits today.

Hi Bud, Do you have a line on another one of those kits? As I said I was looking for that body. I always thought that the back window change was from 75 as mine was a 76 but it was 75 and on. Keep those rally wheels I may want to do some deal with you if you don't have plans for them. ThanksCool

Also are using the same wheels for that? There are some resin co. like Jimmy Flintstone who might make those. They are called dog dish wheels, not sure if you knew that?

What year camaro kit are you looking for ? 1976 ? I will keep my eyes open for one for you.

As for the back window, what can I say looks good to me Whistling I am not going all out on this build with wire's and things. This will be a OOB build some what.

I got these "  dog dish '  the other day so thanks for that link.

Just need to get 4 white walls and the side mirrors and I think I am set.

Hay oldsalty, thanks for all the info and links and things, it all helps Yes

Ooooo and the thick raceing tires you see here were not with the kit. I got this kit 5+ years ago and it was opened. So all the parts I am lookiing for are there and like the other tires are not.

What you see in the other post is all that is left, let me know if you want them.

Bud,

Second Gen (1971 to 1981) Camaros and Firebirds all had the same side view mirrors.  IIRC, the 1970-1/2 standard trim level and RS Camaro had a single chrome mirror on the driver's side that was outside-adjustable.  It may have come on the 1970-1/2 base Firebird, too, but I don't remember.

Hi Bud, Glad I could help! Yes, I'll take what you got on the Camaro as far parts you don't need. I was thinking about the tires..Those are pretty common you shouldn't have much problem finding them even in a old kit. Thanks.Big Smile

Those tires you got might work too. Do the thing I mentioned with the white walls. Maybe put the circle template down to make the white narrow and then use a smaller circle on the inside, if that makes sense? Paint (airbrush/spray) and seal.
