Bullitt color match?
Posted by PHOENIX16 on Thursday, August 12, 2010 3:23 PM

Seeing that Steve Mcqueen is my favorite actor and that the movie Bullitt is one of my favorite's I felt it was a must to build Revell's 1968 and 2008 Bullitt Mustang. However I am having a hard time finding a paint that can match the color of green that the car was painted in. Has anyone ever built one and found a paint that looks really close to it, also I like to stick to testors, model master, polly scale, pactra for my paints. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Go to Model Car World, automotive finishes, and look under Ford for # 6834 Highland Green Met. This is the color of the 68 Bullitt mustang, that is the Ford factory color on the car used in the movie. Ford matched the "hue" of this color in base coat/clearcoat for the 2008 Bullitt Mustang. Testors MM has a dark green metalic paint in their automotive enamels that is close, but it is not as accurate as the MCW paint. The MCW paint is made for models and will not "eat" the plastic like "real" car paint will, nor is it as hazardous to your health as real car paint.
