Hunt for a Custom Van.
Posted by Mad-Modeler on Sunday, September 5, 2010 8:13 AM

Some Years ago I build an Aoshima kit of a Japanese Custom Van(Zelda). Got destroyed in a move.

Now recently I have seen kits(2) called "Vanning" appear and those kits contain the Custom parts for the Van. Only difference between the kits are the Rims.

Wanting  to build the Van again I started searching for info about the Van itself, scans from the "Vanning" kit instructions didn't help as they only said supply a Donor kit and reviews said to make the parts fit kit, etc.

Managed to narrow it down that the Van is an older Aoshima  Hiace kit(sparse now).

So I ordered a Hiace  & "Vanning" kit and they arrived but looking at the Instructions & parts I can see that the front is different, test-fitting the "Vanning" parts showed it wouldn't go.

So my son sez he will build the Hiace as per Instructions.

I am back on the Net hunting for fitting Hiace kits, found that the kit I ordered is a 200 Model(thx to Hobby-Search as they have kit instruction scanned).

Bit more research of the various Hiace kit instructions shows that the front of the Type 100 Model kit matches the "Vanning" kit instructions.

Model 100 Hiace kit arrived and yes the custom parts fit it well on dry-fitting.

Not sure why Aoshima couldn't supply that little bit of Information in the 1st place.

The kit will be build in future as I want to do a build-offf with my son but we both got quiet a few kits in the queue.

Hope this info helps people that want to build a "Zelda Custom Van".
