Unknown Car, want kit.
Posted by Scorpiomikey on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 6:34 PM

Hey guys, this is my first post in the Autos forum (im an aviation nutter) And im after an unusual car, hoping its not a custom built, hoping theres a kit out there for it.

It looks alot like a 1935 Mercedes-Benz 540K Spezial Roadster. Except its got a boat tail on it, its a V12, and has like exhaust lines running out of the nose, down the side and back into the body (i think theyre exhaust lines, big silver pipes anyway)

Like This

I hope thats enough to go on. im working from memory and if i search hard enough im sure i could find a photo of the one i saw.

Thanks heaps in advance.

Mike

I'm pretty confident it's a Merc SS roadster (six cylinder engine).

Ah - I thought the picture you posted of the SS http://www.classics.com/images01/pb01-18.jpg was what you were looking for, I missed the "like" bit.

Lindberg makes a 1/25th scale model of the 1935 Auburn Speedster. It's kit number 72324. I don't know it the new company has reissued it yet. However, go to modelroundup.com They have some for sale. Hope this helps.

Wait before you order the kit. I have one in my stash. Let me go to my local post office to see what it would cost me to airmail my kit to you.Gordon

I feel your pain. ordering o/s is expensive (not to mention the NZD exchange rate). still, for you to post it back would cost more (at least it would if posted from Australia to USA.)

I'm glad I could help.

It's the only car I could think of fitting your description.

Personally,I'd be happy to spend hours and hours detailing one of those.

Gorgeous ride!
