Goodyear/Hoosier Tire airbrush stencil
Posted by Kle43 on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 5:53 PM

Hi all! This is my first post. I did search the site and didn't get any hits, so I was wondering if anybody out there knows where I can find a Goodyear and/or Hoosier Tire airbrush stencil in either 1/24 or 1/25 scale. I did (sort of...) search the net and couldn't come up with anything.

This brings up a preference that seems to make me an odd-man-out, but that is okay.  I do not like rubber or vinyl tires.  I can paint plastic (styrene or resin) ones whatever color I want.  They take decals or dry transfer logos much better than rubber or vinyl. I don't play with my models (I usually even glue wheels to axles).  So why do most people prefer rubber or vinyl?

Hi Don,

You know, that's a good question I guess. To be honest, I didn't know that plastic tires were even available. My best guess would be that it looks more realistic. I used to do a lot of Nascar models and would scuff the tires with sandpaper. I liked the look and thought it added to the realism. Just my opinion, :)
