Automotive Group Build
Posted by Aaronw on Sunday, November 7, 2010 1:10 PM

Back in March the idea for an automotive GB was proposed, there seemed to be a bit of interest but nothing happend. If there is interest I'll take this one on, and run a general automotive GB, open to pretty much anything you would post in this part of the forum.

There have been some narrower Gbs but none seem to have faired well, I just don't think FSM has a large enough automotive population to support these very specific GBs.

Time frame will be generous, starting soon and ending later in the year (I'll start off with 5-6 months, but would consider extending a full year if it gets going strong).

Options would be open to anything you would consider posting here including some military vehicles (staff cars / utility vehicles based on civilian cars / trucks, police / fire vehicles based on military vehicles etc).

If at least 5 people with a serious interest in this sign up, I'll get to work. If interested post here or in the older GB post. If there is interest I'll start a fresh post in the GB section, come up with some badges etc.

Edited to reflect that the group build is on.

I'm glad to see this can be revived. I'm in but usually one would have to start a project after the group build is announced and I already have? Could I slide in since the idea was bandied about so long till now?

Let me know?

I should have mentioned that, I'd be fine with started stuff as long as its not too started.

Kind of the honor system here, but if you have enough work left to spend a few weeks as part of the GB that is fine. If you only have an hour or two of work left that is probably too far along. I have lots of kits in primer or even with a color coat on that are still a long way from done so I'll probably be finishing one of them if this gets going.

Scorpiomikey, of course we will offer help if we can. That is part of what group builds are about, luring encouraging people to join in. Stick out tongue

I may be able to start around February 2011, I have the NMF II GB to finish AFTER current project is complete.

Have a 1/24 scale AMT Mercury Sedan with a scratch 'chopped top & scratch motor details started. Plan on a garage scene where the motors are being swapped. (kit includes 2, a stock & a V8 big block)

Give this a year & count me in!

I can post WIP's of started work once a start date is set*

Sorry, GB is shorthand for Group Build. Basically a big multi person work in progress thread.

Don,

AND!- you can claim a "badge of honor" from the GB upon completion!

Like everyone but me seems to have?

Although I earned two and never claimed them. My bad, I couldn't capture the slippery lil things onto my 'profile'?

Hope you can join Don!

Don (Echo?)
