Have my midget
Posted by Don Stauffer on Saturday, November 20, 2010 9:00 AM

We knew the new Monogram midgets would be showing up in hobby shops any day now.  A friend was in a hobby shop yesterday and called me from there.  The shop got in a small number (of the Ford version).  There was only one left. He was going to wait for the Offy version.  He said he'd pick up that last kit for me if I wanted it, and I didn't hesitate!  I'll pick it up today and club meeting.  With the glowing reviews I've seen, and pics, I can't wait to get to work on it.

My dad used to drive midgets in the thirties and early forties, and I have a TQ midget, so have a fond place in my heart for midgets.

Okay, have the kit and have looked it over thoroughly. IMHO this is the best midget kit ever.  Even surpasses the old Etzel Speed Classic kit, which was curbside.  This kit has a very detailed engine and drive train.  The detail and molding are some of the best styrene casting I've seen.

Typically in kits with chrome parts, you need to dull down the chrome finish to represent aluminum castings.  Not with this kit- there are two types of "chrome" parts, the shiny ones such as grill, front axle, radius rods, etc.  Then there is a second sprue of matt metal finish that really does a good job of representing cast aluminum.  Photo etch for the steering wheel spokes, instrument panel, and hood straps & buckles.  And, the kit is reasonably priced- 25 bucks.

I agree, take some photos, you have our attention.

Good luck . I look forward to seeing your model build.

Enjoy life. You don't know how long you have. Be polite. Smile - it costs nothing. If all else fails ---walk away. Enjoy life.

It is Revell.  I have started another thread- a mini review on kit.
