Anyone built a Kawasaki Ninja?
Posted by Enzo_Man on Sunday, January 18, 2004 1:40 AM
I've been planning on getting a Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja. It's an awesome looking bike. Detail looks great (when isn't Tamiya). But I like to see detailed pics of the details. I haven't been able to find too many. Anyone have any good pics of there build-ups? Lemme see 'em.

The Tamiya ZX-12R is not a bad kit, don't like the clear green fairing included in the Kit though.

OTOH, if you are interested Aoshima makes some of the older and current Ninja(aka GPZ900, GPZ400, etc.)

Neato. I'll have to check into those. Thanks MadModelFactory!

Pointers with the ZX-12R, check the instructions careful for assembling the rear end of the fairing above the tail-light.
4 parts are involved but only 2 need to be glued together, the cross-spar will end up on the rubbish heap. DON'T cement that one into place, neither cement the rear seat cover into place.

You might want to assemble/putty/paint those in place, it is not a very strong joint and sanding, etc might snap it apart again if you are not careful.
Clear Plastic tends to be harder and a bit more brittle.

Also the lower fairing will need a bit of wiggling when putting it on.

Thank you bunches MadModelFactory. I haven't gotten the kit yet. But probably will soon. I love a challenge.

Here's mine:

I didn't run into any problems during the build; I may have been a little more careful since it was my first motorcycle kit. I built it as a Workbench Review model for the Nov. 2001 issue of FSM, and the review is online elsewhere on this site.

If I do another one, I'll probably paint it. I'm not a big fan of the see-through green bodywork.

Good luck with your model, and make sure to post some pictures when you finish it!
