Finally FINISHED!!! What do you all think?

Base was made from foam and turf.

I am painting the interior soon because I want a model to b done for the club meeting tomorrow

I did some surgery to create the "bridges" between the body and the firewall. they can be seen at the upper corners of the engine bay.

These are only test fits, so the parts should all line up in the final assembly.

I also realized that the white tank on the left of the engine bay had been painted black during a mass painting, so that and the "VORTEC" logo (seen in the centre) on the engine block had to be scraped with a knife to remove excess paint. I think the tank has a nice weathered look to it  though.

My camera died partway through the photos so when it is charged I will try to take some more and post them here.

Not able to light the truck due to difficulty levels and schoolwork levels as well, but I have part of the bed painted German grey instead of charcoal grey.
It doesn't matter to me as I'm not showing it at any contests, and the color looks great on the bed. Will post pics when I have them.

It may still be used in a 1:24 diorama of an airport, but I'm not too sure at this point...

I will work on the interior when I have paint.

I have seen some after reading other articles

the model is put away due to lack of paint, Modeling restrictions (March break does not count), and focus on my boat.

I will post pictures when I get back to the project

it will be going to the meeting tomorrow so I will be getting more advice from my local club

Radio Shack carries a lot of led's.  They have some that are rectangular in shape that should fit the third brake light.

I am not that hardcore as the Escalade is only my 11th model ever and the first one I have ever decided to light.

For the batteries I will place them either under the tonneau cover or under the hood and display the engine serarately.

Any help will be appreciated in terms of what the lights Mr. Hawkeye mentioned

For the third brake light, it is 2 mm tall and nearly 1.5" wide so it may be hard to light. Below is a blueprint of the EXT.

The entire model is so far only brush-painted but I will get a can of spray paint when the Moores beside Northstar does not have a sale.

What colour should the model be to reflect a working airport truck? Also weathering techniques would be appreciated.

There is an EXT near my local skating trail and I see the occasional one on the 401 but they are mostly later ones with xenon lamps.

There's not much to light other than headlights and taillights (although that does look good). you could probably also light the dash and if you're really hardcore you could have a door open and that turns on the overhead light as well as the footwells. you could also light the third brake light.

Four way flashers, clearance lights, dome light, courtesy lights and any strobes or rotating beacons.

There are companies that produce ready to install lighting systems...check out those being used for HO/1:87 railroading applications.

I think you'll want to stick with macro sized LEDs and a controller board.

There's plenty of room within that model for a self contained setup of LEDs, hearing aid batteries (or a bigger source disguised in the bed/cargo area)and even micro-switches to vary what is diplayed on/off. There are many basic tutorials online on how to properly power the LEDs although if using a total of 3v off the hearing aid batteries there is no need for resistors. So if you have even the most basic grasp of electronics it's no more than getting creative with placing the components and realizing that there is wire of a very thin gauge available from better stocked stores.

Howdy!

I'd be glad to help with questions about the electric/electronic issues on this one. Best approach would probably be to use LEDs. The battery should be mounted so that it is possible to replace it should it go flat (and it will). Some pictures of the machine would be cool too. Good luck with your project and have a nice day
