A GIFT FOR A FRIEND AT WORK 1965 GTO
Posted by PANZERJAGER on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 9:46 AM

A friend of mine at work and I have often reminisced about old cars and one that comes up most often is her brothers GTO.

Gail's brother bought a black Pontiac GTO new in 1965.

So after some careful questioning (so as not to tip her off), I obtained a kit from AMT and began construction.

The worst part about this kit is that it comes as a convertible and they throw in a hard top to glue on.

Lets just say the hard top is an after thought and leave it at that.

So without further ad due, here are some pics.

Dude!

I almost got wood!

Awesome job!

One of these days I'm gonna build a replica of my friends '64 Goat.

Glad I got to see you put the finishing touches on it.  The base came out great!  The goat isn't too bad either.........................................

Sorry I haven't got back to any one lately.  You know the old saying "Life gets in the way...".

TD4438, ah, thanks...  At least the 64 kit comes as a real hard top.  Not a convertible that you can make into a hard top.  It took me months to get the body work good enough to lay down that black "shows everything' paint job.

Thanks OchtaneOrange, Her reaction was worth all the work!

Funny Pat!  Yet it is amazing how the base and cover are two additional model kits in and of themselves..

Glad you guys like it!
