Modern Crown Victoria kits?
Posted by JailCop on Monday, September 26, 2011 10:05 PM

Does anyone know of a kit for the modern (1998-2011) body style Ford CVPI's? (Crown Victoria Police Interceptor).  All I can seem to find is the mid-90's kits, unless I go with a pre-built die-cast model.  I want to create a NYSP CVPI.  If I can't find one, I'll either go with the die-cast or make a Charger.

This is the body style I want in a plastic kit:

This is the only body style I've found in plastic:

This is the Charger:

I wish they made more police cruiser plastic kits!

I do not recall the model year but Lindberg has/had a Crown Vic Ohio State Highway Patrol car in 1/25 or 1/24 scale. Lindberg tends to keep models "in production" for a long time so try their web site.

Lindberg still has the Crown Vic patrol car AND the Dodge Charger (current Charger).

Yes, but what I'm asking is if anyone makes a kit for THIS body style:

Thanks, agentg, I'll either do a Charger or get the die-cast and try to do a bangin' paint/decal job.

I couldn't find that particular body style CV so I just bought the diecast.   The diecast licence plate is from a Troop F car.  The NYSP decals are available at the policecarmodels website.   The decals are a bit older so they include the reflective stripes between the tail lamps.

Any pics you can share?  Also, what paint did you use for the blue?

The car was prepainted.  I won't be able to take any pics because I ended up leaving it at my old station in Troop "C".

Ah, then I suppose some experimentation is in order...

I think that dark sea blue would be a good start.  Blue Angel Blue is a bit too light in color I think.

The official color used is State Trooper Blue...although not available in a hobby paint.  Good luck in you quest and be sure to post pics of your completed troop car.
