Again, I know this is an old thread, but I just found it, so...  I actually have 2 of those limited-edition resin kits.  They are very good and quite detailed, with parts to build all the variants of the Delorean DMC-12.  The primary visible difference is the 3 hood variations (grooved with gas flap, grooved with no gas flap, and flat with no gas flap)  Next time you watch BTTF, take the time to look closely at the cars they used.  There were, I think, something like 6 different cars, and you can see the different hoods if you are looking for them.

I see this post is quite old, but as a Delorean owner I had to comment - the battery is actually located inside the passenger compartment, behind the passenger seat.  That hood release cable would only have given you access to the trunk - it's a true rear-engine car - the spare tire, gas tank access and some stowage room is located in the front.  Depending on which version you were looking at, it might have had a gas flap in the hood, which would allow access to the tank without opening the hood.  This was in earlier cars though, and removed as a cost-cutting measure in later builds.  So, had you known, you probably could have gotten the car started, but you may not have had enough gas to get anywhere.

Good God, Octane Orange, that is one ambitious project you have there!  And of my all-time favorite car at that!

It was the only car I fell in love with at first sight (in 1982, so three years before BTTF).  The only real one I got to sit in was at a used car dealership.  They were unfamiliar with what they had and were eager to sell it, so they offered to let me take it for a spin.  But, just like in the climax of the movie, the car wouldn't start!  The dead battery couldn't be accessed because the hood release handle cable had been ripped out of the dashboard.  Indifferent  I thought that I would live the dream, but the dream was short lived.  A few weeks later, I drove past the dealership and saw the car perched on their front outdoor display, with the doors open and the lawn sprinklers shooting water into the car.  So sad...

Excellent work so far.  Good luck on your build, and I will be watching with great interest!

Does anyone know of a 1/24 scale Delorean kit that ISN'T the car from "Back To The Future"? I'd like to build a full-detail kit (not curbside) but all I can seem to find anywhere is the "Time Machine" version.
