Old 1/43 AMT revisited

The more I play with these the more I truly like them. First, they are fast builds, or as fast as you want to be. Makes a nice change of pace after building some 300 part uber-model. Also with just a little work, you can make them more accurate. The 69SS is the second of these I built. On this one I added a vinyl roof to the 69 SS as well as side mirror, turn single stalk, shifter antenna and some decals. Added bare metal before painting on the "SS" trim as well as name tag and after paint was able to lightly sand through back to the "chrome". The 36 Ford is the latest addition, built between a couple of BF109's I'm doing. Took the lights off their radiator mount and correctly mounted them to the front fenders, made some new windows out of clear plastic stock (the factory ones had some kind of scuffing on them after all the years of storage). Also made new bumper mounts for it as the kit one are a chrome tube. The new ones were made from thin brass sheet painted black. Used German WWII aircraft colors to give it and the 48 a more era correct paint color. Just dip the whole body once dun into some Pledge acrylic floor wax to give them the sheen they need.
