1949 Mercury Custom Coupe

Built this from Revell Kit # 2860

Very nice model kit to purchase if you have the chance. It goes well together and the kit gives you a few different options to build your own custom style Merc.

Nice and Shiny! Star

I think my father-in-law built one of these but he did metallic green. Your's turned out nicer though. (His wasn't bad for a first-model-back-in-the-saddle though.)

Grapeulous build, very nice indeed! Which paint did you use?

Thank you Greg - the paint I used was Testor's Purple-Licious One Coat Lacquer Spray 1842M.

Those new One Coat paints from Testor's are AWESOME!!! I use them often.

Kool Cat!

The paint looks like a copy of the Mopar color 'Plum Crazy Purple'

I did a 1/1 scale Camaro in that color back' in the early 90's.

...Never added hardener and the paint never fully cured!Bang Head

You could press a thumb nail into the paint months after it was finished.

Your 'Merc look great! Thanks for posting the pic'Cool

Looks great!  Hope mine turns out as good.

The RPM club in the Twin Cities is doing a group build for an upcoming full-size car show this summer.  I have my kit and am just kind of deciding on colors.
