Revell '68 Firebird

Well don't forget I am using an airbrush and I polished it out with a polishing kit.What specific trouble are you having?

I'm looking at your 'bird and suffering from paint envy.

It looks so beautiful and I'm currently suffering through a cursed build. Every problem in the book from splatter to drips to orange peel.

At least I can look at your terrific looking car and remember it CAN be done! haha

It came out great!

Looks like its finished.Came out pretty good!   

The conv boot from the Revell '72 Cutlass fit fine with no modification.   

I installed the front and rear bumpers and front grille unit. Lookin' good!           

Installed the rear valance panel.It was a good move on REvell's part to make it a separate piece.Made installing the interior and chassis much easier!    

OK! I mounted the interior and chassis to the body.THis part of the build normally makes me nervous but as I mentioned before this kit is very well -engineered and i got it mounted with just a litttle trouble.          

Now its glossy!

Okay1 I polished it out to 12k grit.I didn't burn through because I started with 4k due to the fact that the paint was pretty smooth.I may add a thinned top coat to bring up the gloss.     

THanks! It is a well-engineered kit and everything seems to fit fine.The real test will come when I mate the body to the interior and chassis.

I used Tamiya semi-gloss black.Produced the perfect sheen!

The "upholstery sheen" on the interior is perfect! Is that a result of the paint you used, or did you do something special to it?

i got the interior painted.I like the realistic finish of the interior!   

Painted the chassis and exhaust system and installed the engine.I like the complicated Walker exhaust system!  

Here is the completed engine. Nrext I have to paint the interior and chassis satin black.     

Here is the body and hood after 5 coats.Now it will cure for a week and i will complete the engine and start to build and paint the chassis.    

Here is the body after the first coat.My plan is to airbrush 5 coats,let it cure for a week and polish it out to 12000 grit.tHen I will giver it a thin coat to cover the areas where I burnt through(this always happens when I use the polishing kit)I will clear coat it with Future if it is not glossy enough.    .

Painted the engine block.     

i primered the engine,body and hood.Since The car is to be bright red I may shoot a coat of flat white to brighten it.
