Early morning all,
It's been quite some time since I have been in these parts due to my job.. With that being said, my building has slowed down to a snails pace but I am getting some time now so I decided to finish what I started at the begining of last year lol
Better late then never right? Anywho, this is Tamiya's beautiful 1/24th Porsche 911GT2 dressed in the colour scheme of Taisan Starcard.
I built this car OOB and used the kit decals which went on with out a hitch and look awesome. I strickly build military aircraft and use a lot of after market decals, but this is the second build that I used the kit decals and both builds happen to be by Tamiya. And yes, I have a soft spot for fast targets
The decals are a bit thick but with a lil TLC and just applying a fraction of setting solution , they look painted on!! Over all build went rather smoothly coming from a person who builds a/c models as I mentioned.
What took me the longest was the painting/final finish procedures.. I used Tamiya's rattle can black but I decided to decan it and air brush it instead. I did the same treatment to Tamiya's gloss and OMG, that stuff is amazing once applied.. Boy I do have to say, what a process that was but I am over all pleased in how the Porsche turned out!
One thing I have to say about Tamiya out side of the level of detail, is the way they do their chrome parts.. LOVE em!! I left the rims they way they came and used Alclad Gold for the inner rims.
I used "The Treatment" 2 stage wax system.. They come strung together, one is a buffing cream and the other is the wax itself.. It also comes with a model mist wipes & display case cleaner as well. If you can get over the faint smell of tuna fish then you have a great polishing sytem and it is rather cheap @ $3.50. My LHS has this in stock!
I do not have that much more to go before I can call it done.. Then again, once this is complete I will be working on it's display base..
As you will see with the pics, the date range is all over the board
Do apologize for the above quality of the close up.. My digital cam is an older model.. GGrrrr
I am not sure about you all but out of all the Porsche designs, I love this particualr design the most especially the rear end ;-) Ok the GT3 R is pretty sweet too.
Thank you for allowing me to share my build with you all and please chime in!!
Flaps up,
Mike
