The best way to strip chrome off plastic is with household bleach. Soak it for a while and just keep checking until it becomes tacky and then it should all wash off.

Because I don't think the chrome looks too much like the real thing, it is thick, and after i cut the chromed parts off the sprue there will be a little white patch where the sprue attached

Excuse me.. Is that an Uzi?

I am not quite familiar with the Fujimi Ferrari, but why do you need to strip the chrome?

Fujimi makes the Villenuve Ferraris and they are either presently in production or recently out of production.. They are very nice, I have 2 of them myself I keep trying to talk myself into building.

I mostly don't want to deal with stripping the chrome plating off the wings.

Excuse me.. Is that an Uzi?

Good job! Was this an old kit? Might account for the yellowing of the decal film. Putting them in a south facing window a few days before use can help with that.

It is a big departure from the new slim F1s. I am now trying to get some more of this type, like the JPS, an all black car with gold striping and the Villeneuve Ferrari with chrome. Thanks for viewing.

That's a very nice finish on the aluminium body.  What did you use for it? It is certainly a big change from the carbon fiber bodies of modern Formula 1 cars.

mgh, this is a 1:20 kit by Tamiya. This is one of the features of this kit. In other kits, this is not possible. In this series the top can be lifted off if the builder wants it. I opted to have it so that the details specially of the engine can be see.

I have not built any car kits yet.  Is that typical of an F-1 kit to have the body lift off like that?  Whose kit is that?

Thanks

It took me awhile to get to finish The Prost's Renault. The decals are already yellowing against the white paint of the car. It is an OOB. I mixed clear to the paint to make it more glossy.
