Harley Davidson decals in 1/9 scale
Posted by Tracker on Thursday, August 23, 2012 3:18 PM

Is anyone aware of a source for decals for 1/9th scale Harley Davidson motorcycles? I am working on an IMEX/Protar FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic for my brother-in-law. The Harley lettering on the tank of his machine is different than the model's logo.

Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like a hard to source item. i'd suggest looking into home printed decals or someone to custom print them for you.

Italerie took over some of these kits. I have the HD Fat Boy and Springer kits. My Springer kit was missing some of the screws needed for the Axles and italerie sent me a brand new set. Good luck!

I'd also consider homemade (inkjet) decals for a project like that. If no white or very light colors are needed, use clear decal paper. If white or light colors are needed, you need to use white decal paper and cut out the resulting decal very carefully. It is tricky but certainly can be done.

Dpends on the year of your brother-in-law's Heritage..Some had decals on the tanks and others had actual emblems. the kit you are speaking of is a 1994 and the kit decals are spot on, I have several of the kits and the actual bike. If you need decals,, printing them would be the way to go,,try looking the web for an image of the bike and then download it. I have made HD emblems by cobbling up a master and then foil copying it. On one I used a diecast and copied the emblem that way. It is tedious and takes practice and more than a few trys,,but it can be done. Another source may be to look at some of the other kits available including the Ford trucks with the Harley emblems,,some of those may work

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions and help. His was an '88 and the logo was just the words Harley Davidson in a straight line with the H and final D as larger letters.  I have the decals from the model. I have pictures of the bike which he no longer owns and have seen the logo on line I need but don't have the skills needed to make my own decals at this point. I do have a couple of friends who are considerably more skilled in that realm who I will contact for help.
