test fitting and maybe some reference photos would help. i built the high boy version with out a top and went together well. from the photo it must have been missing parts number. i could tell jusst from the photo you missed the heads that go between the engin block and valve cover. does this kit have more than one engine choice? some times the kits with multiple versions can be confusing as well. hope its going well since your last post

Alot of manufacturers can have issues with incorrect instructions. I never follow my sheets aside from a reference for part numbers or a really complicated assembly. That's the beauty of the "test fit twice glue once", and trust me I'm more than guilty of gluing on a part backwards, upside down, or in the wrong location.

Well maybe I have to admit I am not as experienced as I was giving myself credit for.

Problem was, 2 out of 4 parts were oriented incorrectly in the instructions.  I came back to it after letting it sit for a while, and discovered what was going on.  Now I know I cannot take for granted that these instructions will be accurate.  Whew!

OK, I am not a complete new guy to modeling, I am not saying that I am a good builder, but I have built enough to know how things should go together.  Decided to build my first car after reading good reviews about this kit.

I can't even get the engine built!  I have never seen anything like it.  The block halves fit, and the oil pan and one other part fit, but nothing else I have picked up fits, and there are tabs and pins where there should not be anything.  It is making me feel like I have never built a kit before, I am just lost.  Here are the instructions for the engine assembly.

Part #537 has a locating slot, and it fits as one would expect.  Part #540 just kind of sits on top of it, resting on the grooves, with no solid mounting point at all.  Part #538 is anybody's guess, there are not locating tabs/pins, and it just hangs out over the block like so:

The valve cover, part #531, has tabs and pins on it, but there is nothing on part #538 for it to fit on to!

The last Revel I built was the F-5, one of my favorite aircraft, and it was just plain crude, really a poor kit.  This may be the last Revel I ever buy, 2 in a row now that have been a disappointment, though the fit on the F-5 was far better than this.

So I don't know if this is just a rant, or if someone can see that I am doing something really dumb that is creating the problems for me.  The F-5 is only the second kit I have not finished, and I do not want this one to join that unfortunate group if I can help it.

I may move on to the chassis and see if it goes together any better.
