Revell '32 Ford review

Disclaimer: While I do have some limited experience to compare kits, my skill set is pretty weak, so that should be taken into consideration when reading this review.

All in all, this was a pretty nice kit, with a good fit all around with only a couple of exceptions.  The only parts that were really bad were the clear parts for the windows, they would not even come close to fitting inside the recesses for them.  I tried filing away some of the opening, and sanded the edge of the windows, but never was able to get them to fit.

I thought the front suspension was a little tricky, but it went together with only a couple of flaws.  I could not get the wheels to fit well, but I am certain it is because I did not get the brakes located properly on the axles.  I could not feel a good positive position, and apparently did not get them on properly.  The wheels should press on to the axles without glue, but I was unable to get the front wheels to snap in to place at all, and the rear were pretty sloppy.  That is not a knock on the kit, but maybe something to watch out for (my front wheels look like they are in bad need of alignment Embarrassed

I was not happy with the headlight fit to the frame.  It just kind of sat on top of a pin, and I struggled with that.  They are a chrome piece, and I was trying to glue it on with super glue, and it was not working at all.  I finally striped the chrome and was able to fix it on with super glue.  I will now need to go back and paint them.

The kit can be built as a coupe, or a “highboy”.  I was hoping for an old-school look so went for the highboy, and stripped all the chrome except the door handles and the front windshield trim.  The highboy came as drag-strip ready, so it had a lot of custom parts, so the way I built it is not authentic.  If I had to do it over again I think I would build the coupe version.

With the exception of the clear parts this is a kit that fit well and can built up very nicely.  I would not hesitate recommending it, and I am sure that a more experienced builder could make it an extremely nice model.
