very convincing rust on that gremlin, which of course is one way to make it more accurate.
looks like it's spent a lot of time in the sun.

Really cool build! I have one question, would it be beneficial to rust treat the bumpers as well? Thanks for sharing!
Glenn
unless the bumpers have dents or other damage they are unlikely to rust . I prefer just a faded look, I make them dusty but it doesn't show up in the pictures because of the brightness.
another super realistic build and paint, JT

Gotcha, James! I'll keep that bit of knowledge in mind.
Thanks
Hey, nice job! I used to work in Kenosha, WI where they made those things, and most of them looked like that after a winter or two in Wisconsin. One good thing about them was that spare parts were easy to get. They were lying along the roads all over the place!
Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...
Now thats sharing your skills with the visitors to this site. I can't cet bored looking at yours and a few other modelers here.
HEY, that's my car!!! I had a 74 that looked like that after 180,000 miles. The straight six 232 CID (IIR) kept running, but the trans finally gave out. I think the bumpers were aluminum and not chromed. I know the windshield moldings, and other moldings, were polished aluminum and not chromed.
Nice job. More rust on the tops of the fenders and holes The Gremlin was my first new car and
all AMC cars rusted out along the tops of the fenders.
Again nice job I might have to get me on of those kits and build something beside armor

LOL. My first new car was a '76 Levi's Gremlin X, with the seats upolstered in Levi's denim. Mine rusted out along the bottoms of the doors and quarterpanels. If nothing else it taught me how to use bondo. The Levi's seats also didn't hold up too well.
It had a straight six, which over time developed an incurable violent backfire. It backfired one day when my wife was at the bank drivethrough and all the tellers dropped to the floor thinking they were being robbed...

A Levi's Gremlin! Almost forgot about those. One of my co-workers had one back then. It was certainly unusual, to say the least!
What a car! What a model! What a POS! (the car itself, not the model)
I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
Somebody at a recent car show here (in Phoenix) had a Gremlin. Every once in a very great while, I see one.
I also see the occasional Ford Pinto and the even more occasional AMC Pacer. Couldn't begin to tell you when was the last time I saw a Chevy Vega (now THERE was a piece-of- car!).
"Whaddya mean 'Who's flying the plane?!' Nobody's flying the plane!"
That looks amazing!
"Some say the alien didn't die in the crash. It survived and drank whiskey and played poker with the locals 'til the Texas Rangers caught wind of it and shot it dead."
You could spot a Vega (literally) over a mile away by the huge cloud of smoke trailing it due to the burning oil caused by the aluminum block having no cylinder sleeves. Later models had chromed steel sleeves, but by then, the damage was done.
