Beware of Scale Repros Plus
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, February 13, 2004 7:21 AM
Recently I spent $59.99 on an all metal aftermarket engine for my #88 Ford Taurus. A good friend of mine is a huge Dale Jarrett fan and I thought this would be a nice gift for him. It's even better now that he won the Bud shootout last week.

For that kind of money I thought I was getting a nicely detailed engine, boy was I wrong. It turns out that their engine is an exact copy of Revells engine. It looks as if they used Revells parts as masters, they have the same exact flaws in them. The most insulting part of it all is that Revells example is way better. Most of the fine details were not reproduced on the metal pieces. The air cleaner and prewired distributor were well done, but this engine is for the older Ford Thunderbird which is of no use to me.

I don't know how the rest of their products are, I'm not going to buy any more. Hopefully I can get my money back.

I feel recasting parts and jacking up the price is dishonest, misleading and just plain wrong!

It's a crying shame!! You would think they would be infringing on some sort of Patent law or something, unless they actually bought the molds from Revell!!! I'm sorry to hear about your experience, and hope you get your money back. You might as well try and find a resin kit with that type of cash!!! Thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure not to waste my time or money on their products!!! Let us know if they do give you your money back, I'm interested to know how they handle that situation.
