1/24 scale Rim and Tire Combo
Posted by Subzz997 on Sunday, March 3, 2013 7:06 PM

In process of building the Revell Germany 2011 Mike Rockenfeller DTM car and the rims and tires with this model are a bit lacking, searching the net I've found various types of rims etc.. but I don't know what I'm doing and before I spend money on what I think is the right stuff figured I would ask...

I've seen 1/24 scale rims on various websites but they all have no tires, sooooo.. off I go looking for tires and I find alot of those but how do I ensure that I have the correct rim/tire package??  It doesn't appear that I can match up a set of rims and tires for certain cause I cannot find a 1/24 scale kit that contains the rims and tires. Respectfully request a learning on how to figure out the aftermarket rim/tire world for a 1/24 scale DTM car.

Thank you

I admit to knowing nothing about the tires used in DTM, but Ma's Resin: public.fotki.com/.../radials

offers a number of "modern" low profile radial tires with excellent detail. Some of them might work for you.

The modeler's rule of thumb: The worse it smells, the better it works!

Those Ma's Resin tires shown are really aoshima model kits tires. Many of the low pro file styles show were sold through a company called American SATCO. Some still sale on Ebay.

An there's alot of folks out there copying them and using that sorry Micro Mark TCR-40 Tire Rubber. So look close at the shine on the rubber and if it's that MM TCR rubber pass on them. "American SATCO" tires don't have a shine to them. Don't get suckered and buy cheap copys. An no I'm not stating the Ma'S Resin tires are cheap copys but just look out when buying tires of a particular type of product.

Building the Impossible Is my main goal!!

Hello!

Fujimi used to sell 1/24 wheels with rubber tires - maybe they would work for you. Hope it helps, have a nice day

Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate you taking the time to answer.

I looked up those Fujimi sets and think I may have found something that will work.

And boy I ALWAYS forget about E-Bay, once I hit the ebay link and saw all those rims and tire's, it just looked a lot less confusing.

Whatever 1/24 scale 18 inch tire equates to is the slick tire I would need and some sort of center lock rim to match the tire size.

In real life I know they are staggered but for this project it works..
