1/14 Pierce Arrow XT-- 100' Steel Tower Aerial

Here's a mock-up of the body together, if their is any interest i can post the whole step-by-step.

The body measure ~ 3.5 feet , the ladder fully extended is 6.5 feet long.

THis will have around 35 flashing L.E.D lights and spot lights, will drive around via R/C and the ladder will swivel 360 degrees, extend to 6.5 feet long and up to or beyond 45 degrees vertically. :)

Some more pics!

Looks incredible to me.

One question:  Why 1/14?  Is that an artifact of scale drawings used, or some critical component?

Given the amount of "stuff" available in 1/16 scale, that would seem a slight bit more preferable.  Although, I suppose that 1/14 neatly fits between the 1/12 things and 1/16 scale.

I'll be keen to see how you rig the servos for the ladder and the outriggers.

1/14 is the scale used by the R/C companies for their semi truck gear (i.e. wheels, drivetrain, etc)

I'm using gearmotors to raise/lower, turn, extend/retract.

An Update!

The turntable with ball bearings for a smoooooth glide and easy turing to reduce strain on the motors

The "ball bearings" are BB's for an air rifle.

Tools all built with my two hands out of assorted strene shapes and strips

A 14' foot single fly roof ladder mounted on the inside of the 3rd fly of the large ladder.

Let me know of any comments or questions!

All encouraged!
