Thanks Greg.  I already found the kit plus some PE and other AM items for it.  Now I just need to get around to building it.

Gino: are you still looking for a `77 Camaro kit?  If so, check here: www.jimnohio.com/camaros_firebirds.html

Regretfully I sold the car. Used the money to buy a 86' F-150 that I still have. I repainted the F-150 with lessons learned from the Camaro project and must say the results were better.

Sounds like it was a good project.  Do you still have the rebuilt one?

We are slowly replacing the interior on it as well.  It is coming along really nicely.  So far it has a new dash, center console, and rear window tray.  Awaiting to put in a Z-28 gauge package with a cusom oil pressure guage instead of the stupid clock.   Still needs a driver's seat, headliner, and carpet.  The work continues...

I still haven't built the model of it yet either...eventually....

Brings back memories of a 77' I bought & painted in the early 90's. Almost every panel was a different color and the interior was out of a Z-28. Painted it Plum Crazy purple, the test it run wouldn't go over 35 mph. A bad vibration from the rear axle turned out to be a bent drive shaft! The rear differential must have been from the rolled Z-28. Bought a parts car without a engine or transmission for $100 for the axle. Two years ago sold the parts car at the farm auction for... $100

thanks for posting and excellent job on the 77'!

Don't forget that MPC's plastic was notoriously soft, Use caution when working with it.

Success!!

I finally got one on eBay.  I also found a PE set, Edelbrock intake and valve cover set, and gauge decals for it.  I think I am set.

Thanks to everyone who had an eye out for me.

There's a  guy I knew who collects and sells vintage car model kits. Send me a PM and I'll see what he has. I'm sure they won't be $100 and up. That reminds me... I need to pay him a visit soon. It's been a long time since I stopped by.  LOL!

Thanks Rob.  Somewhere around $50 or less would be great, but I'll do up to $75 if I have to.  Let me know what you find.

No joy on any of them.  I was sniped at the last minute on every one of them.  If you happen to find one, let me know.

Thanks.

If they don't pan out, give me a holler, the local shop here often has vintage kits on the shelf. I don't look for Camaro kits; more of a vette or VW builder myself when I get around to car building.

Thanks Rob.  I hadn't seen those two.  I was following two others that were going for a lot higher, close to $100 each.

Found a couple Camaro models that may work, both around $30 + s/h

AMT 1977 Rally Sport

And an MPC 1975 3 in 1 kit (racing, street rod or stock)

Thanks Rob, but the '79 won't work.  It has a totally different rear and front end with integrated bumpers.  The '77 had separate, chrome bumpers.

I know Revell does a '79 Camaro "Street Burner" 2 in 1 kit. The box art is a yellow car with a blown engine, but it is molded in white and can be built as a regular stock Z28.

Looking to build a '77 Camaro...any kit out there ('75/'76 AMT/MPC)?
Posted by HeavyArty on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 9:26 PM

My daughter and I are building a 1:1 '77 Camaro for her (below) and I would like to build a model of it as well.  I have seen the '70 1/2 and '78 kits, but these will not do.  The front and rear ends, and bumpers are different on them.  I have seen/heard of an old AMT/MPC '75 or '76 kit.  Does anyone have one to spare or know where one can be located?  Or is there a resin/AM set(s) to convert one of the above kits to a '77?.

Here is the 1:1 car.

In progress...

Exterior done and repainted...

We still need to finish up the interior, but it is getting there.

Any help on the model will be most appreciated.
