Police Car Question
Posted by TD4438 on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 8:24 PM

What do the tail lights look like on the re-released 1/25 AMT Roscoe police car?A friend wants me to build a Rick Hunter Monaco, but the box art on Roscoe's car seems to have the wrong tail lights.I think a bit of artistic license was taken with the box art.

Haven't seen the re-released version so I don't know if the tail lights have been changed, but here's the "out of the box" version of the kit's earlier release (the "Joker Goon Car" from Batman) done up as a Chicago PD cruiser:

Hope it helps.

The Dukes of Hazzard Monaco's were model years 1975 and 1977.

Here's Hunter's taillights on the 1977 Dodge Monaco

Here's an interesting rear shot, from season 4, showing a Plymouth Fury AND a Monaco taillight Huh?

The taillights in the kit match the right side taillight in the pic above.

Greg: Where did you get that lightbar?  Is that stock for the Goon car?

Sadly, no. It's a Mars Skybolt. Couldn't find one anywhere, so I had to scratchbuild it.

Thanks for the response. The box art appears to show the below lights, which I've never seen on anything but a 2-door.Also,can you guys recommend a good match out of a rattle can for Hunter's Monaco.I couldn't decide yesterday.

For which car?  You actually have a plethora of colors to choose from....   Season 1

          Season 2

  Season 3

  Season 7

If you have access to Tamiya sprays, I recommend TS-9 British Green.

While that is probably a repair done on set, it's quite possible the car could have actually rolled off the assembly line like that.  My Dad and I were once checking over the latest crop of 1971 Plymouths on a dealer's lot and noticed that the fender badges on one side of the car read 'FuryIII' while the same badge on the passenger side read "Monaco".  As with most manufacturers, the same bodystyle from the different brands went down the same assembly line, things occasionally got mixed up.  :-)

Good thing it wasn't a GM; they'd tell you a Chevy tail light wouldn't work on an Olds.

from what i remember from the show, Hunter just got his car from the pool and never had one assigned, as they never lasted very long.
